HIV man guilty of infecting women

Mohammed Dica, an HIV carrier, is facing a long jail sentence following a landmark conviction for "coldly and callously" infecting two women.

Dica, 38, conned the first victim into having unprotected sex by claiming he had had a vasectomy.
As she tried to cope with a cocktail of drugs designed to delay the onset of Aids, he targeted his second victim with declarations of love and talk of a family. Doctors say both women could be dead in 10 years.
Dica, who claimed they knew of his condition before going to bed with him, simply blinked his eyes a couple of times as the six-man, six-woman jury returned unanimous guilty verdicts on two counts of inflicting "biological" grievous bodily harm - a legal first in England and Wales.
Dica, a father-of-three from Mitcham, Surrey, did not give evidence during the hearing at Inner London Crown Court.
The verdicts were greeted with applause, shouts of "yes" and sobbing from his second victim in the public gallery who told the departing jurors: "I thank you very much, I thank you very much."
The woman, who can only be identified as Deborah, added: "This is the day, I have got there. I feel over the moon."
Dica, who may have only a few years left to live, remained impassive as Judge Nicholas Philpot warned he faced a lengthy period in prison.
The judge adjourned the case until Nov 3 for pre-sentence reports after rejecting applications from Dica's defence for bail and a psychiatric report.
