As much as I oppose the WOD, there is a big difference between starting on a chemical because it was suggested by a doctor in response to chronic pain after botched surgery, and simply "liking" it.

How so? Healthy people do not typically engage in heavy drug use. Rush may have gotten his start due to physical pain, but many do drugs to block out mental pain and anguish.

I wonder if any of you have seen "Requiem for a Dream"... The woman who was popping prescribed medication ended up no differently that a heroin addict.

No I haven't. But I did see terminator and terminator-2, Commando, and these movies certainly have convinced me that we need more gun control laws.......</sarcasm maybe>

I have pretty much reached the end of the effectiveness of OTC drugs for my back and hip problems and am considering the prescription approach. I have already given up half of my loved activities and only have one or 2 left which I have absolutely no intention of giving up, no matter what it takes!

My lifestyle is not a sedentary one as yours may be but rather it is focused on physical activity. So if and when I reach the point where I begin to exceed the FDA's recommended dosage of whatever prescription drug I may be taking in order to maintain a modicum of normality in my life, can I count on you to see to it that I am arrested for drug abuse? After all, it's for my own good and ultimately society will be better off if I am in jail.....

I was wondering why Rush didn't leave for 30 days of surgery and physical therapy, if he only bought the illegal pills because his doctor was restricted from prescribing more. I've seen it stated on FR that he was only trying to manage his physical pain and therefore, not an addict.

If OC was the only thing keeping him functioning, how will he ever be able to return to the golden EIB mic? Or did he come to a point where he liked what the pills did for him beyond managing the physical pain?
