Huffington (witch that she is) probably didn't NEED to pay a lot of taxes because in the years she didn't list a lot of income her fortune was probably earning its money in investments in tax free bonds or she was able to offset during the market tanking times by selling losers.

Be carefull who you wish to pay more taxes. We got hosed by the AMT because a bunch of pus sucking politicians used a few people who had large fortunes in non taxed holdings as examples of the rich "not paying their fair share". We pay it now, and the ones used as the excuse STILL do not pay on those earnings used to justify it...
