"If you feel you are intimidated from your freedom of speech, it's un-American." -- Charlie Rose to Tim Robbins --12:50 AM. Tuesday, October 14th, 2003, on PBS (OPB).
This was a reference to Robbins saying that many Hollywood people didn't speak publicly of their opposition to the war in Iraq out of fear. If we look at what it was they were afraid of, we look into the heart and soul of the liberal.
They were afraid of what happened to the Dixie Chicks.
And, what was that? Millions of Americans turned against them, spoke out against them and refused to buy their recordings.
So, to meet Charlie Rose's definition of being a proper American, those millions of citizens should have been prevented from exercising their free speech rights -- calling radio stations complaining about the playing of Dixie Chick music, should have been prevented from taking Dixie Chick recordings they had purchased and throwing them in the garbage, should have been required to continue to purchase Dixie Chick music, listen to it on the radio and publicly praise them, and other stars who despise patriotism or the use of American military power to both protect our nation against threats from abroad and set nations free from the rule of butchering tyrants like Saddam Hussein....(snip)

Millions of Americans did not turn on the Dixie Chicks because they spoke out against the war. Rather, it was because, before a European audience, they (or one of them) announced that they were ashamed to be Americans, ashamed to be from the state of Texas.
As consumers we are not required to support their bad manners, by buying their records or attending their concerts.

Once the human digestive system terminates it's function and the large intestine absorbs as much water as it can, the large intestine then terminates at an orfice that shall henceforth be known as a Charlie Rose.

"If you feel you are intimidated from your freedom of speech, it's un-American." -- Charlie Rose to Tim Robbins --12:50 AM. Tuesday, October 14th, 2003, on PBS (OPB). I am intimidated from speaking in the way that Charlie Rose does. I'd do it, but the FCC would have me arrested. I don't have the same right to free speech that Charlie Rose does, it's as simple as that. And I have no opportunity to confront Charlie Rose with the implications of real freedom of speech restrictions--it wouldn't be convenient to Mr. Rose, and that's that. But freedom of speech is not only a right but an obligation--If you allow yourself to be intimidated from speaking, you are enabling those who are attempting to intimidate you and others. So if you're afraid that the government headed by a Clinton might actually punish free expression, and you find the Free Republic web site to express opposition to his abuses, you have a moral obligation to join in support of those who have already done the heavy lifting to establish the site in the first place.

Millions of Americans do not understand the First Ammendment. No matter whether you're a liberal or conservative, Tim Robbins' position shows him to be an ignoramus.
Even though he's an ignoramus who can't understand basic concepts, he's still allowed to speak freely. However, there's a catch. When he opens his mouth he confirms his lack of cognitive ability. No one can protect you from yourself.

If you feel you are intimidated from your freedom of speech, it's un-AmericanI guess it all depends on the meaning of "intimidation!"
Feelings hurt? Gun at your head? Police knocking on your door at midnight? Someone pulled the chair back just as you were about to sit down? You made someone mad at you?
Doesn't sound to me as though Americans have been 'intimidated' by these liberal entertainers. And that seems to be the REAL problem for the liberals. We just won't shut up. Freedom of speech. .

Reminds me of a few months ago when I saw Robbins whining about his free speech being squelched...

I happened across Paul Wolfowitz on The Charlie Rose show a few months back (which I'd never watched before) and this DOG of a human was just so, what's the word, leading in his questioning of Paul W., that if Paul wasn't so darn smart and confident, he would've reached across and smacked him himself. No wonder he's Don Rumsfelds 'Deputy Sec. Of State', They are cut from the exact same cloth. I also refuse to watch '60 Minutes 2', because he is a Producer of that rag of a show too.
