Sure.. if you think it's ok for players to punch fans because they are on the field then it's basically ok for anybody to do anything to anyone on any given day. It's a stupid comparsion and I can't believe those words would ever come out of an "adult's" mouth.. then again I do believe 10 year olds can sign on to this board too.

Knocked down? This isn't like the band member interveing in the middle of a play. The guy sucker punched him. If he didn't like being taunted guess what.. he shouldn't of lost the game.
More than that he's not a player.. so if he slugs him then he should be charged with assault.
If he doesn't get charged with assault then why can't I hit anybody I choose at the time of my choosing?
My guess is that the guy hasn't moved forward with any charges because he's consulting a lawyer on what his options are.

So, your guy feels he can run onto the playing field at the end of the game, taunt a losing player, and not suffer the consequences?
Now who's the liberal?
It's called "personal responsibility", being held accountable for one's actions. Obviously, he wasn't expecting to be punched. But maybe he learned something -- something he should have learned long ago.
Who knows? Maybe next time it'll be a traffic altercation. Hopefully he'll think twice before he yells an obscenity at another motorist -- might save his life.
But no. You want to wescue poor wittle football fan so he doesn't have to suffer the consequences. That's probably what people have been doing for him all his life, and that's how he ended up on the ground.

You might want to have your IQ checked.. or go back to school.. I think you might have a mental disability.
Assault is assault... so what if the player got taunted. If he wanted to act like a child what he should of done is gone home and cry to mommy instead of punching the guy.
If the poor baby football player got his poor little feelings hurt then maybe he should of come over to your house and you cry about all the bad little words people tell you all day long... sniff sniff.

Knocked down? Did you see the video?

then it was not a sucker punch. I have no idea how to respond to this statement without getting banned.

Good! Nebraska deserves anything they get! They are overrated and totally without class.
To: robertpaulsen
If the poor wittle football pwayer can't handle a few words, the poor wittle football pwayer needs to find another hobby. The poor wittle football pwayer needs to be held accountable for taking what *may* have been a verbal confrontation and turning it into a violent confrontation.
Of course, I've known more than a few college football players that didn't exactly get in on academic scholarships, and getting into a verbal match with somebody may have overloaded his brain.
I hope the poor wittle football pwayer never has to play in Lubbock - Texas Tech fans will drive him insane with rage and he's liable to kill somebody.

If the fan was pointing and yelling obscenities, as is alleged, then it was not a sucker punch. He wasnt. It was a sucker punch, big time...JFK

Rushing the field is a time honored college tradition. As much of a tradition as post-game riots!

Good! Nebraska deserves anything they get! They are overrated and totally without class. Not to turn this into a football discussion, but this year there seems to have been an abundance of teams in the top 30 that were overrated - Nebraska is one, Oklahoma State and Ohio State would be a few more of my picks, Michigan as well as Missouri, and Texas (well Texas' problem is they have a head coach that can't beat Bob Stoops or anybody with Bowden for a last name).
I think the Nebraska player lost it because he realized they are not an OU or Miami - sure Nebraska beat OSU, and they beat Troy State last weekend 30-0, but the BCS doesn't care.
It's a shame - I was hoping this season would produce a lot more contenders for the national title, but as it is, it'll be OU or Miami, unless Texas Tech or Oklahoma State (can't count them out since it's a rivalry game and rivalry games seem to ignore what the bookies predict and the Texas Tech game will be a race to see who can hit 60 first) knocks out OU.

I'm happy to change it if you don't like my choice of words.
Just don't cry when you get sucker punched, that's all.
Just don't cry when you get an elbow to the face, that's all.
Just don't cry when you get the crap beat out of you, that's all.
Pick one. Doesn't change the point.

Reynolds has been suspended. He has also called the Wisconsin player to apologize. So has Tressel.

If the fan was pointing and yelling obscenities, as is alleged, then it was not a sucker punch. If there ever was a sucker punch this was one. A sucker punch can cause great harm if one is completely unexpecting it. This kid drop like a sack of rocks, it was totally unexpected...He never even went into a defensive posture. Sucker punch if there ever was one...

I saw the video, and noted that Brad Smith was the first one to stop and try to help the guy. Don't know much about what kind of guy he is, but this is to his credit.

The KC Star is now reporting that the fan has decided to file assault charges. I don't think he's even a student at MU, I heard he's just a fan from Lee's Summitt, MO.
To: OKSooner
Brad Smith is a top notch character guy, a very, very devoted Christian. As fabulous an athlete as he is, he's just as remarkable off the field. The kind of guy you really want to see do well. You probably remember last year against the Sooners in Columbia when he had like 213 rushing yards. Missouri had no chance in that game without Smith.
To: Almondjoy
if you think it's ok for players to punch fans because they are on the fieldYou don't get it. He wasn't punched because he was on the field, he was punched because he was pointing and yelling obscenities.

I'm afraid it is you who is being stupid. I never said, or implied, anything to the effect of "it's ok for anybody to do anything to anyone on any given day". You apparently have the reading comprehension and logic skills of a 10 year-old. It breaks down like this: Fan goes on field and yells and cusses at losing player. Losing player decks retarded fan. Retarded fan got what was coming to him.

I think you need to read what I wrote again. When you can actually acknowledge why I think your view is distorted then you may reply to me. I don't further arguements with people who respond with the "Ugh me Tarzan" routine.
Aside from whether you think the fan got what was coming or not.. the guy assaulted him.. the guy acted like a person with the "reading comprehension and logic skills of a 10 year old". Therefore he must go to jail.
To: robertpaulsen
Glad you decided to change it. Thanks for being reasonable.
