Yeah for sure we know MG is gonna ask for a continuance. The rest of the "Discovery" hearing may be about attempts to challenge the evidence and maybe even some witnesses. I'm just not sure.

I don't think so. I am guessing that the defense says the state has not given them access to all the materials they think they're entitled to. And if by Friday the defense hasn't gotten everything it thinks it's entitled to now, then of course they will use that contention as another basis for their request to continue.
I hope that if he does continue it, he only continues it for a week. We know the judge is going to find probable cause. I guess the only thing slowing down the prelim is that Geragos and company want to be sure they're ready to do a full "fishing expedition" at the prelim--which, incidentally, is not what a prelim is for (but why would that stop them from using it as such...)
