You think "Western Civilization" dates back to the Bible and beyond? No "long history" of use of MJ/Heroin/cocaine in our Society? I purposely left off opium, I'll leave it to you to figure out why. There was a time when it could have been argued that "There is a long honorable history of slavery in our Western society back to the Bible and beyond." Was that a good reason to not end slavery? The bottom line is that if marijuana is harmful enough to ban, then alcohol is doubly so. But Prohibition failed and the War On Some Drugs is failing; we were wise to end the former and would be wise to end the latter.

Heroin and cocaine (crack being a form of cocaine) are useful drugs. Useful in proper use. Misused they are dangerous. Poison. I agree that crack is extreemly dangerous. So is strychnine, for that matter.

Yet, they all should be available for responsible adults to own and use. A 12 gauge riot gun is deadly. Designed to be deadly, death and injury ARE its usage. Do you ask to ban 12 guages? Or pistols?

Cars kill. We should all use trains and buses driven by state-workers, eh?
