There's lots of fairly large southern cities, and I'd be surprised to hear that they are liberal. Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Miami, Phoenix... liberal?

Granted, yes, even the biggest of these (Dallas) only ranks as #8 in population in the U.S...

But I dunno if I'd go so far as to say "city" = "liberal". I mean, 4 of the cities I just listed are all bigger than Seattle... liberal Mecca... heheh :)

I do have to admit though... for the top ones, it -is- pretty consistent. NY, LA, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston... the really bad eggs are the really big cities. Philly and Baltimore aren't quite so disgustingly liberal... but yeah, even they're pretty bad.

And here I am stuck smack dab between NYC and Philly. Before it all starts, give me a chance to move first, will ya? :)

23 are Southern or Rocky Mt (Denver/Salt Lake).

I will confess that nearly all white liberals in the South who really mean it are urban...no doubt about that.

Nashville #37 is for sure home to a lot of white upwardly mobile libs but I would guess amongst whites that conservatives hold sway 3-1. In rural areas it is much more pronounced.
