I don't know much about Selenski, but his attorney deserves some credit here for getting him back into custody.

I don't get these idiots who escape prison and then turn themselves back in. If you're gonna go through all the drama of breaking loose, it seems you'd be damn sure you don't wanna go back under even worse conditions! Of course, convicts often aren't the brightest bulbs in the world (and I'm not condoning prison escapes, just clear reasoning!)

I agree, after escaping I'm amazed he turned around and willing went back. Good job, especially for a "lawyer".

Here's a chronology of events:

June 10, 1994 — Hugo Marcus Selenski robs a bank in Luzerne County and serves seven years in federal prison.

February 2002 — Pharmacist Michael Jason Kerkowski Jr. pleads guilty after being charged with selling more than 330,000 doses of painkillers without prescriptions.

May 3, 2002 — Kerkowski and girlfriend Tammy Fasset go missing.

July-December 2002 — Selenski contacts Kerkowski's father four times, officials say, claiming his son is still alive. His father later admits turning over $100,000 demanded by Selenski

June 5, 2003 — Selenski is arrested and jailed for threatening Kerkowski's father. That same day, two bodies are unearthed in Selenski's backyard.

June 8, 2003 — The bodies are identified as Kerkowski and Fassett.

June 9, 2003 — The Luzerne County coroner says remains of three others are found near the first two bodies.

October 6, 2003 — Prosecutors charge Selenski, 30, and Patrick Russin, 33, with murdering Frank James, 29, and Adeiye Keiler, 22, two victims not previously identified. Officials say they were shot in May and their bodies were burned in Selenski's backyard.

October 10, 2003 — Selenski escapes from his seventh-story Luzerne County prison cell around 9:30 p.m. by climbing down a rope made of bedsheets.
