Yea, my weight was good till my doc said I was overweight. Two years ago my cholesterol was good, but then they changed the regs. Now it's too high. Who makes up this stuff, anyway?

Americans are not just getting fatter, they are ballooning to extremely obese proportions at an alarming rate.

It's because Americans are poor and out of work and can't afford food.........

according to the Democrats lol

Does surfing the internet count as exercise? I'll check back after dinner to see the answer.

I agree with you - I was fine till my BP was "almost too high to pass my flight physical" (110/89 - i guess the bottom number is supposed to be below 95)

so my doc put me on bp drugs, now all of a sudden my cholesterol is too high, even though its not much higher than it was before, and the cholesterol drugs screw up your liver so you cant have wine with dinner ever again....

and the doctors say im now overweight even though ive only got about 10 extra pounds, that i gained after taking the bp drugs, and they are all at least 50 lb overweight...

and to top it all off a retired doctor friend of mine says im just fine & these standards are arbitrary

who knows? I sure dont

They don't say what the lower 'acceptable' end is for the BMI. mine is 19.19 and I've been putting on weight for the last 3 months. Heck, I probably gained a couple of pounds sampling fajitas we were cooking this morning for a buffet. (You have to taste test! you can't send bad food out to the customer)

Are there any massive (R)s in Congress? I don't recall seeing any. I know Senator Thompson (R), Tennesse, is a pretty big fellow, but he's no Nadler.

The BMI calculation is somewhat bogus as it does not take into account your stature.

suggests that it is at least partly due to the same kinds of behavior -- overeating and under-activity

Wow! This is amazing! I never would have thought of that at all.

BTW they did change the table for being overweight a few years ago. I was just right and then they bumped me up into the over-weight catagory. I have no doubt there is an obesity problem in this country. But I also think they keep lowering the bar to inflate the numbers.

She said thinking has evolved from a generation ago, when many doctors believed extreme obesity was due to hormonal abnormalities or other distinct conditions.

Did the Triple Bacon Mushroom Melt exist a generation ago?

Stature is also a good point. Even people of the same height can have different healthy weights due to how they are built. ie. bone structure
