The real fun will be tomorrow, actually. Tonight I hope will be real baseball.

Tomorrow promises more pitching thuggery, I'm afraid.

Mussina hasn't won a start for a while.

But he did come one out away from a perfect game against the Sox a few years ago, at Fenway. I think the first two innings will tell the tale for the game, for both pitchers. I have a feeling Wakefield may be wild. However, if the Yankees go up there hacking, his wildness will not matter. The Yankees need to make Wakefield pitch strikes.

how is that one? I bought MVP - it was a huge step up from Triple Play. I tend to be a walking EA advertisement, as all my games 'cept one is EA.

The key to the Sox winning this game is to put runs on the board early. The Yankees have the best closing 1-2 punch in baseball with Contreras and Rivera. They just aren't going to score many runs off those two guys. So if the Yankees are able to bring a lead into the 7th inning, it's just about over. The Red Sox have got to score early and as often as possible. They let too many early scoring opportunities get away in the last game. And one more thing, they've got to stay out of those double plays!

Different Red Sox team. Some ex-Met with issues broke it up. Wound up in Chicago with the White Sox.

Different Red Sox team.

Of course. But my point was he has pitched well at Fenway. I think his right-handedness makes the Green Monster less of a factor, as righties won't be able to pull pitches as well. I actually think Mike will do better than David Wells for that reason. Also because Wells puts more balls in play.

Nice what you said about Contreras but I don't think this combo is as dominant as Rivera/Wetteland. Contreras can be had.

Mussina will give up pumpkins. What I don't like about the Red Sox offensive style is their inability to run. Those double plays on Saturday were avoidable.

I'd wait on Mussina as much as the Yanks need to wait on Wakefield. Look for Mussina to go wild early and walk a couple of batters in the first inning. He's proving to be a choke artist.

For some reason I remembered Danny Galehouse.

Sorry Boston fans for me invoking him.
