By your logic, as long as the alcohol was medicinal all is cool.

I didn't say it should be OK to drink and get behind the wheel.

Just that almost everyone, including myself and probably you, have gotten behind the wheel when we shouldn't have.

I and I presume YOU are against drinking and driving, as am I.

Does that make me and you hypocrites.

By your logic, yes.

Nonetheless, Rush's problem is light years away from a junkie who goes out pulling stickups and burglaries and knocking off old ladies for their lunch money.

Why? Because he had the $$$ to pay for OTHERS to do his dirty work?

How many of those "baby blues" he purchased were the booty from stickups? We will never know... but what we DO KNOW is that oxycontin has fueled B&E's on florida pharmacies.

It is people like you who thinks humor is cockiness.

People who have met Rush said he is one of the nicest and most humble guys in person.

There are those who hate, then there are those who hate Conservatives.

Worse than that when I say something to a Lib they blame what I believe on Rush. It is the same ol' same ol'.

Libs cannot blame someone's behavior, that is unless of course that someone is a conservative. Then FRY THEM.

Case is point, Karla Homolka of CANADA, Murdered 2 teenage girls and also drugged then raped then murdered her younger sister. See was given 12 years in Joiliette, Quebec. She's out in 2005. Of course they blamed her actions on drugs.

But the libs would be perfectly happy with Rush getting a lifetime ban from radio.

Dear Mark.

I am so sorry you have had so much pain. I appreciate your response to me and I can only hope that the meds you take give you comfort.

"The prescription painkillers Rush was taking are listed on the federal drug abuse statistics just like cocaine and heroin, and illegal users of "prescription medication" are subject to being severely punished and imprisoned just like users of other drugs are (albeit not as severely as the users of ghetto drugs like crack are)."

Wrong!!

I bet you can't name me one person in the past 30 years who was "imprisoned" for simply using prescription medication (one in which they had a script)

And I don't mean a parole violation, or someone who is found lying in the middle of the road stoned out.

I mean simply using prescription medication.

That's not to say that abusing prescription medication (or buying them on the street) is OK, just that it is very, very rare if ever that someone is severely punished or imprisoned, as you claim.

Maybe it will eventually come out that Rush did not have a prescription for OxyContin, or whatever painkillers, but until then I presume he had a script.

Downey didn't go on air and defend the War on Drugs week after week. That's a big difference.

Actually becoming addicted to pain killers, could be seen as a very good motivation to oppose legalization of drugs. Since Rush has personally experienced the pain and harm that addiction brings.

Liberals are always trying to censor conservative's speech. We cannot talk about abortion unless we're women, cannot talk about affirmation action or racism unless we're black, cannot support military action unless we've served, etc.

Well guess what, Rush has personally experienced the worst effects of drug legalization. According to the Liberal's rules this should make Rush more qualified to speak out on drugs, not less.

Anyone who has never had to battle intense and severe physical pain, consider yourself lucky. Basically, you feel like you would be just about willing to take anything that would reduce or get rid of the pain. Anyone in that situation deserves sympathy regardless of whether they are Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative. People really should rise above such matters and show their humanity on this.

One of my implicit points to you has been the way you read things in to text that aren't there (like the way you did with two of Rush's quotes). You'll note that I've never advocated total drug prohibition in any of my posts. Nor have I given you any evidence as to my own level of self control.

You seem to be just a guy/gal who is bitter about either some friend of yours getting arrested for drugs or about the fact that you don't have ready access to the drugs you like. And now you think you've found a whipping boy in the personage of Rush Limbaugh.

I admit I don't get to listen to Rush as often as I'd like. Rarely more than 15 hours a week. The drug problem in this country is rarely a topic. He did talk a while about the addiction problem with oxycotin. But the topic wasn't law enforcement, it was patients getting hooked. You apparently are getting your information 3rd hand.

You wouldn't want to lay a little wager on that, would you?

The cockiness is extemely thin. Anyone who listens to him will see the graciousness that makes the man.

I doubt that you've ever called for an end to drug prohibition.

Nor have I given you any evidence as to my own level of self control.

Sure you have. You suggested that you think that drugs are the abusers, not the people whi misuse them.

You seem to be just a guy/gal who is bitter about either some friend of yours getting arrested for drugs or about the fact that you don't have ready access to the drugs you like.

Unlike Rush, I'm not going to wait until someone close to me is threatened with incarceration by the war on drugs before I try to do something to keep the drug warriors from ruining any more lives.

Have you always been a horse's ass or are you just a wee bit jealous of Rush?

This wasn't pain management (see: cancer patients that use MJ) This was pure visceral pleasure seeking.

Really?

I heard him say he was still in pain, and that it had spread to his neck now. Did you even listen to what he said?

Pleasure my heiny!

I can't remember for sure who said it or why, but it was said on radio station KLBJ in Austin this morning. I wasn't really listening until I heard Rush's name. The person doing the talking had apparently done some research and found that in the earlier years, Rush was a proponent of the War on Drugs, but later on, he decided that this was costing us too much money and wasted lives. Later, he came to the conclusion that making drugs legal was the thing to do. The guy talking said that actually, Rush hadn't made all that many comments on drugs during all the years he has been on the radio.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Rush doesn't talk about anything week after week unless it's in the news week after week, and the WOD isn't. Rush's format is very simple: He reads the papers, sees what's in the news, then goes on the air and says what he thinks about it, then takes calls. That's the show - er, program. If the WOD is in the news, and he has an opinion on that news, then it's on the show. You're all wet on this, and I've been listening on & off since 1989.

I have the same problem. What brings them on, I don't think I will ever figure it out.

Me, too. The closest I have been able to figure, they are brought on by changes in the air pressure when the weather changes.

I had tried everything available, and nothing worked. When I had my gall bladder out, they couldn't wake me up after the surgery because of a migraine. They gave me a shot of Imetrex, and in 15 minutes I was eating and had visitors.

Imetrex now takes care of 90% of my migraines. The only time it doesn't work is when I wake up with one, and it is already up behind my eye. Then the only thing that will help is multiple ziplocks filled with ice and a day in bed.
