Not even a few genes? If you look at the statistcal probablities, every Western European probably has inherited a few genes from Charlemagne. I would argue that inheriting a few genes from a Kennewick culture type individual would be even be more probable in the case of today's native Americans because Kennewick culture is even more remote in age; assuming of course that the Kennewick culture individuals passed on any genes at all.

Some postulate that the Indians of Tierra del fuego share both Amerindian and Australoid features of which the Ainu are probably a sub group. BTW, distinct Australoid genetic markers have recently been located in India which delineate their migration from Africa to Australia and the lands bordering the Pacific.

I saw part of that TV special and it was fascinating. I can understand the theoretical migration from South Africa to Australia via India. But I have a real problem trying to understand how Australoids could have gotten to the New World. I don't dispute some of the evidence that's emerging (skulls in Mexico, your Tierra del Fuego information, etc.) But fitting it all together with no real corroborative physical evidence (boats, rafts, etc.) taxes my imagination. I think a whole lot was going on about 50,000 years ago that we have no inkling about.

James Chatters (Kennewick Man archaeologist), in his book Ancient Encounters, speculates that the Kennewick Man type migrated on down into South America (see Walter Neves)and crossed over in central America and probably made his way back up the east coast of the US.
