The lines for the NC-02 weren't changed very bunch. Prior to redistrcting, the NC-02 had a 27% black population. Bush won the district: 55%-44%. The new lines for the NC-02 have a 30% black population. Bush carried the new NC-02: 53%-46%.

Hm, throw another couple points the Ds way for Eastern NC Rats who'll vote for a local good ole boy Rat but not a dweeb like Gore and it's quite the battle. But, like many races, much depends on the nominees from each side.
