It will be interesting to see how Specter votes on the Pryor nomination. Apparently he was none too happy with Pryor's responses to his questions on abortion and there has been speculation that he might vote against him in committee. If Specter once again becomes an unreliable vote on matters as important as judicial nominees then I think he has even more of a problem on his hands in the primary. For Pete's sake, Specter wants to take over the judiciary committee after Hatch steps down and he knows that the rank-and-file GOP care a great deal about judicial nominees.

You're totally right about the Pryor nomination. Don't forget that Specter grilled Pryor on whether he "supported the right to choose" instead of asking softball q's like the other Republican Senators.

The guy even highlights "the right to choose" in constituate letters on judicial nominations! I can't stand the though of him headed that committee when Hatch leaves...
