FYI folks, Peyton ran as the conservative's conservative. The mayoralty is a good place to get a real conservative priminent in politics. Colorado Springs recently elected Lionel Rivera, to the dismay of area leftists, and he promptly got the council to repeal benefits for same-sex couples. He's the first Hispanic mayor in the state.
Peyton is young (38? I think?) and could go places in politics in Florida.

(You can quote me on that, but I'll deny it.)

You forgot about Fort Collins's Mayor, Ray Martinez, a Conservative Hispanic Republican. Martinez was considering a run for Congress last year (in the 4th) but opted against it. Alas, I think the 'Rats may have had us beat with Federico Pena in Denver in the '80s, and there's probably also been Hispanic mayors in smaller towns elsewhere in the state.
