Kolbe points out in this article his own fundamental flaw as a Congressman when it comes to the military and the Constitution. Behnke says pull the troops from guarding the Serbia/Kosovo border to guard the United States border. Kolbe says that having the U.S. military guarding the U.S. border is "an inappropriate use of the military". But Kolbe thinks that having U.S. troops guard the Serbia/Kosovo border is an appropriate use of the military!!?

Jim Behnke is getting all the press now and Kolbe seems to be AWOL. No one has seen a single Kolbe campaign sign. Kolbe has skipped 3 scheduled debates/appearances with Behnke (KGUN9 TV, AARP, League of Women Voters). Kolbe made a quick appearance at the LD30 (Tucson) Republican meeting and said something about his opinion that the border situation isn't a big deal to southeast Arizona because what's a million or so crossers who come in and then leave to other parts of the country. According to my source, this earned Kolbe the vocal ire of the Republican crowd. He won't step foot into Cochise County, Green Valley is turning on him, and now - finally - Tucson is seeing the light and preparing to show him the door.

From AZAnderson.org:

Stop the Gephardt - Kolbe Amnesty

Congress has returned from its August recess. Rep. Dick Gephardt (D-MO) and other members of Congress (KOLBE was an original supporter) are poised to introduce another ludicrous amnesty bill that could legalize millions of illegal aliens.

www.CitizensLobby.com has already delivered thousands of signed petitions to top congressional leaders and to the White House demanding deportation of all illegal aliens; placement of troops on the borders; a moratorium on legal immigration; and other border-security measures.

We are now launching a new on-line Petition to Stop the Gephardt Amnesty. The pro-illegal alien lobby has been sending Congress postcards from the so-called "Million Voices for Legalization" demanding amnesty before the mid-term elections.

Mr. Gephardt, Sen. Daschle and even some top Republicans are pandering to these bogus "voices" in hopes for new Hispanic votes, and they will be trying again soon to sneak through another 245i-type amnesty.

Help us stop this foreign influence peddling by signing our new petition today.

Click to http://www.citizenslobby.com/petitions.htm#gephardt
Contact your members of Congress and demand they support H.Con.Res. 350, which opposes amnesty.

Click on to sign the petition and remember to vote Kolbe OUT of office. Vote for Jim Behnke for Congress.

Everyone in Southern Arizona should go all out to give Kolbe a run for his money on this. He needs to know that softness on this issue is RADIOACTIVE.

Behnke may not be able to overcome name recognition by Kolbe, but the Gay Caballero should find out real fast who keeps him in office, and it isn't Raul Grijalva's supporters. And that means that Behnke should have a good showing.

There's no doubt that places like Wilcox, Sierra Vista and Green Valley will vote for Behnke if he runs a good campaign. But the votes are in Tucson, and that's where the strongest name recognition effort should come from.

The Citizen will undoubtedly endorse Kolbe in the Primary. But their circulation is now down to 40,000, so they aren't that influential. Signs, TV, radio (try Emil Franzi's radio show!) and anything else should be used, just so Republicans and conservative independents hear about him.

Kolbe ain't Morris Udall. He could eventually be unseated. Maybe y'all down there could throw a few street protests against Kolbe's illegal immigration stance and get some free media that way.

Just some humble opinions from an expatriate Tucson native.

incumbent Jim Kolbe, is out of touch with the realities of life near the border.

Kolbe, and the rest of the dim-wits in DC. I hope he pulls this one through. All the best to him....I hope they wake up to Behnke's name in Tuscon!
