Bee SAYS he's pro home-school, but has no plans to make doing it any easier for parents. Also, he's four-square against vouchers. Throw in pro-Goals2000, complete with the Clinton Education Department "School to Work" initiative that casts children into their future careers at age 13, and you've got one swell Democrap. Where did you get the idea that Bee supports "School to Work" and Goals 2000? I've not seen/heard that.
I, too, an four-square against vouchers. I do not support any program which would allow the state or federal government to further intrude upon the success of private schools. In order for private schools to qualify to accept vouchers, they're going to have to meet certain state-mandated requirements (curriculum, reporting, etc). It is the camel's nose under the tent and soon private schools will begin to resemble and demonstrate the same poor results as public schools.
I think Bee is right on this issue.
The man's just not in the right party. Personally, I don't give a hoot about the abortion stance of a school Superintendent. It's just not all that relevent in that job.
It is a good judge of character. In my opinion, no one who supports or tolerates the butchering of infants is fit for any public office and certainly the Republican Party should have nothing to do with them. I've personally committed to never vote for someone who accepts or supports the bloody sacrifice of children upon the altar of convenience - even if they're only running for streetsweeper. I will not knowingly support an evil person.
As for relevance to the position of State Superintendent of Schools - there is relevance. There may be some decisions about in-school health clinics, counseling, curriculum, sex education content, outside organizations (like Planned Parenthood) allowed to provide literature and in-school presentations, etc.

I see your points. He told me himself about the Goals2000, and it surprised me at the time.
I'll have to see more about what's out there before I hit the polls Sept 10. The only things I'm sure about right now are Salmon for Gov, Flake for Rep, and myself (and my wife) for dogcatcher.

Spiff,
You've got my vote!
The abortion stance is an excellent judge of character, or lack thereof.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture already regulates the lunches at Phoenix, Arizona's Christ Lutheran School, a purportedly "private" school.
My son attends there and last year was foiled in his attempt to purchase a book at the Scholastic Book Fair.
How?
The book in question was priced at $4.99. He was 10 years old and innocent; went to school that day with $5.00 from his allowance in his pocket and never considered TAX!
He was denied the book.
Below is the text of the e-mail I sent to Gubner Jane Deep Hole:
"My goals as Governor are to improve education and ensure that Arizona remains one of the most attractive places in the nation to live, work and raise a family."
I have brazenly included the above quote from your Web site.
My 10-year-old son recently attempted to purchase a book at his school's "Scholastic Book Fair". He innocently proffered his 5-dollar bill for a $4.99 book, assuming he would receive a penny in change.
This didn't happen.
He was told he would have to come up with an additional $.36 in tax, and walked away empty-handed and disappointed.
I later explained to him that tax is something imposed by government, because the function of government is to stifle education, stifle human freedom, ensure people remain ignorant.
It is clear to me and any thinking human being that your quotation above is another example of doublespeak. A lie.
I can only surmise that making it more difficult for a child to purchase a book is the method Jane Hull uses to "improve education".
Your arrogance and amorality are astonishing.

Dear Bruce Cannon:
With regard to your communication concerning taxes, I appreciate hearing from you.
It certainly seems as though everything in life is taxed and I understand your concern. That is why I have pushed so hard for additional tax cuts in the state budget that I signed into law. Since 1992, state taxes have been
cut by nearly $2 billion on an annual basis or approximately 25% of base revenues.
In the past few years our income tax has been cut by a third. With the agreed to tax cuts this year, our vehicle license tax will be cut by a third by 2001.
While Arizona does have a high sales tax, between 15 and 20 percent of winter visitors and tourists actually pay the tax.
Our income tax and homeowner property taxes are amongst the lowest in the country. Our business property taxes, on the other hand, are quite high relative to neighboring states.
Each state's tax structure is unique. My goals include reducing all of Arizona's taxes, particularly those that are anti-competitive and out-of-line with neighboring states. I believe we are making excellent
progress in reducing and reforming our tax structure.
Your tax concerns are very important and I would encourage you to express your concerns to your Senator and Representatives. You may contact the State Senate at 602-542-3559 and the House of Representatives at 602-542-5729 to voice your opinion.
Sincerely,
JANE DEE HULL
Governor
