I am relatively new to CT politics but am curious about the upcoming election for the office of Attorney General. Have any credible challengers to Blumenthal announced their intent to run for office and what's the likelihood of their success?

In a word, no. Not a single Republican (and only one Libertarian) has decided to take on Blumenthal (arguably perhaps more popular than Rowland or Lieberman). You might recall had Lieberman not been skittish about resigning his Senate seat in late '00 (which I took as a good sign he knew the Dem. ticket would probably lose and he didn't want to be out of a job), Blumenthal was prepared to run a quick campaign for his job and easily beat the now-imprisoned GOP Mayor of Waterford, Phil Giordano. Most believe he is biding his time before running for Gov in 2006 when Rowland will probably step down. Sorry I couldn't give you better news here... CT does deserve a top-notch Conservative Attorney-General, and that it ain't got.
