Despite budget deficit, Reich seeks expansion (of the size and scope of government in Mass)

As Beacon Hill braces for big spending cuts and grapples with a spiraling fiscal crisis, gubernatorial candidate Robert B. Reich yesterday offered a plan for major budget expansions.

Reich unveiled an ''economic vision for Massachusetts'' that would vastly expand state spending on education, health care, and transportation to create jobs. ''The long-term question is not whether we can afford to make those investments,'' Reich said. ''It is whether we can afford not to.''

I thought this piece was simply too good not to share. Why do I get this feeling that Reich wants to raise taxes down the road?

Aren't they going to vote on killing the Mass state income tax this year? Anybody know what's happening on that issue?

Let him do it. Massachusetts and California serve as a liberal experiment, but more importantly, as an example of why i not to do things this way.
