Benton, AR, March 26 - Senator Tim Hutchinson says he would not shy away from a debate with Democrat Mark Pryor in the race for the Senate.
He didn't mention debating his Republican opponent, Jim Bob Duggar, in the primary. Hutchinson previously said it wouldn't be necessary to debate Duggar because they agree on the issues.
In 1996, Hutchinson became the first Republican senator since Reconstruction. He is seeking a second term. Today, he spoke to the Benton-Bauxite Rotary Club, saying that Pryor, Arkansas' Attorney General and son of former Senator David Pryor, is a formidable opponent and the race will be tough.
Hutchinson said, though, that he looks forward to debating Pryor on health care, prescription drugs, agriculture, education and other issues.
Arkansas Freerepublic will have a meeting Saturday, April 13, at Whole Hog Cafe on Cantrell. Reminders and maps will be posted later
