“Senator Grassley clinging to his antiquated ‘Blue Slip’ tradition of letting the opposition help us to choose judicial nominees, comes to my mind.”

Apparently the Republicans have unofficially ceded blue slip privileges for the United States District Court for the District of Columbia and the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit to the Democrats.

For example:

The United States District Court for the District of Columbia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_District_Court_for_the_District_of_Columbia

Active Judges:

Democrat judges: 11

Republican judges: 4

The Democrat judges are hardcore leftists (James Boasberg, Rudy Contreras, Tonya Chutkan, etc.).

The Republican judges are moderates who often side with the Democrat judges.

The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Court_of_Appeals_for_the_District_of_Columbia_Circuit

Active judges:

Democrat judges: 7

Republican judges: 4

“The D.C. Circuit is often considered to be second only to the U.S. Supreme Court in status and prestige, and it is sometimes unofficially termed “the second highest court in the land,” although it is officially no higher than the other twelve Courts of Appeals.[2] Because its jurisdiction covers the District of Columbia, it tends to be the main federal appellate court for issues of U.S. administrative law and constitutional law.[2] Four of the nine current Supreme Court justices were previously judges on the D.C. Circuit: Chief Justice John Roberts and associate justices Clarence Thomas, Brett Kavanaugh, and Ketanji Brown Jackson. Past justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Antonin Scalia, Warren E. Burger, Fred M. Vinson, and Wiley Blount Rutledge also served on the D.C. Circuit before their appointments to the Supreme Court.

Because the D.C. Circuit does not represent any U.S. states, confirming D.C. Circuit nominees can be procedurally and practically easier than confirming nominees to other circuits, because home-state senators have historically been able to hold up confirmation through the blue slip process.”

Unless the Senate is able to pass a matching bill, it would be foolish for any House Republican to offer up a significant change bill as any House Republican who dropped such a bill in the hopper or was a co-sponser would become a target.

Drop a bill in the hoppers proposing a filibuster constitutional amendment be sent to the states with a three-month limit for ratification.

Either it gets made permanent or it gets tossed.

“And if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor.”

With the PPACA, you’d normally him/her pay out-of-pocket, so why not?

I’m on Medicare, my first doctor visit and most of second doctor visit will be on my money.

She may have been effective, but not a good example of the way it was done. I remember when she tore up Trump’s speech. She should have gotten a good solid slap for doing that. She figures herself to be special, & she is but not in a way I’d respect.

Republicans in the House could have stayed in DC and had a Second reconciliation bill ready to go when the shutdown was over. Instead, they almost all went home for a five week vacation. I understand why so many Republicans do not come out to vote in off year elections because they are completely disgusted with the Republican Party in Washington. So am I but I am old-school and always vote. Most younger people are not.

Sadly, she’s right.

Dems are ruthless in getting their agenda pushed through.

Republicans play too nice.

Mace is part of the problem. She wants Republicans to play fair and by the rules while allowing Democrats to cheat.

This alone should be a wake up call to the GOP. Pelosi is evil as hell but she was effective in her evilness.

The GOPe Congress are going to lose for us unless they start doing things to that help the people instead of their own selves and their colleagues.

Constant vacations, more focus and money to places like Ukraine and other foreign powers is not going to get people to the polls.

Dump the filibuster and start getting things done that people want and need. The RATs are sure as hell going to do that if they win next time.

Don’t forget Dennis Hastert was a pedophile, and most likely picked for that job because he was.

“ Newt was the best ever.”

And the Republicans deserted him as soon as he started being effective. I think Newt understood that the dems (totalitarians) focus is always about CONTROL & the power that comes with it, and were/are totally focused on achieving and maintaining it by any means necessary. Republicans, with the exception of Trump, are never forceful enough to achieve what they promise to achieve. Perhaps they’re ultimately afraid of the responsibility of being in control.
