My fave was Nancy Reagan. She had class.
If I were to pick a democrat first lady that I admired it would be Lady Bird Johnson. She did more to beautify America than anyone else I know. And being married to LBJ? She also had class and dignity.

My fave was Nancy Reagan. She had class. She was into the occult too much for my liking.

Regardless how we feel about her hubby, Laura Bush was a great First Lady.

What categories are we judging the first ladies on? Looks? Class? As far as worst looks, I’d say Eleanor Roosevelt. Boy, was she a dog.

I like most First Ladies better than I like their husbands.

I forgot about that.
But at least she didn’t have seances with Eleanor Roosevelt.

Pick any aspect of any first lady. Good or bad. Comment on it.

My criteria is, the less they were heard, the better.

Yes, I loved Nancy Reagan. She got a bad rap from the press but she was great! Melania was very good and got a worse rap from the press.

Dolly Madison. With British troops bearing down on Washington DC intent on burning The White House she rescued valuable documents which included the original copy of the Constitution.
She barely made it out of DC with the British hot on her heels. Now there’s a gal with hair on her chest.

Worst - may I nominate Edith Wilson? I know it’s hard to imagine a First Lady climbing over the decrepit body of her husband to really run the country...isn’t it...
To: linMcHlp
I can see that. Both of them stayed in the background, kept their mouths shut and didn’t interfere.
However - Melania has made it known that she would rather stay away from politics and the White House. But she hasn’t complained about it.
