The CDC has a history of lying. The CDC wrongly categorized illicit fentanyl deaths as prescription opioid deaths. This gave the media, DEA and DOJ the false narrative to blame opioid manufacturers, prescribers, pharmacies and pain patients and as a result win cases. As a result many pain patients have suffered MIs, suicides.
Thus was not an innocent “mistake”

CDC Foundation is not the CDC.

Basically every Fed.gov agency and bureaucrat in DC is a worshipper of the state and disdainful of conservatives and libertarians.
In general, I don’t have an issue with private contractors doing govt work. Although I imagine it gives the socialist commies in the EU heart palpitations at the thought.
However, given the distribution issues early in the pandemic, the kneejerk overreliance on research of other nations, and lack of coordinated messaging of timely information, they are certainly due for a major systemic review as to their company’s provided value to the govt in its current form.
But we will always need “a” CDC - unless people want FEMA (or worse, HHS) to do everything.
