One of the things happening in South Dakota is an infection rate that's among the worst in the nation, at about 8,000 cases per 100,000 people.
In Vermont, another small, rural state with a Republican governor, Gov. Phil Scott has embraced safety measures, and the differences are pretty stark. Like South Dakota, Vermont has fewer than 1 million residents, most of whom don't live in cities. It has about 500 cases per 100,000 people. That's the lowest rate in the nation.

South Dakota it is then.
But cases are skyrocketing. Everyone knows one case equals at least 15 deaths.
Wear your mask. It’ll make the booboo go away.
demographics tell the true story:
Vermont:
Five percent of Vermont residents are immigrants, while 6 percent of residents are native-born U.S. citizens with at least one immigrant parent...
...The top countries of origin for immigrants were Canada (20 percent of immigrants), Nepal (7 percent), Jamaica (6 percent), the Philippines (6 percent), and Bosnia and Herzegovina (5 percent).
South Dakota:
In 2018, 35,175 immigrants (foreign-born individuals) comprised 4 percent of the population...(4 percent of the state’s population) were native-born Americans who had at least one immigrant parent.
The top countries of origin for immigrants were Guatemala (8 percent of immigrants), the Philippines (7 percent), Mexico (7 percent), Sudan (6 percent), and Ethiopia (5 percent).

The South Dakota newspapers/ tv news organizations are ripping Noem with what I think are unfounded claims about the hospitals filling up and covid cases exploding.
It’s all like a very bad dream.
Our whole nation is going to $hit and these people are making it worse all for power
True, non-WASP immigration has been the ruin of this great country, starting from the socialist Eurotrash from the s***les of Europe to the more recent influx from all over.
This country was the greatest when true WASP culture was preserved and perpetuated.
They certainly are worried about Kristi Noem...
SD has a large Native American population, who are very susceptible to the China Crud
So the covid tests have more false positives in SD.
The “two weeks to flatten the curve” concept always implied that the curve would he filled out eventually with positive cases and yes, deaths, when the healthcare system was able to handle the extra cases. Vermont is just filling that curve in more slowly than South Dakota.
Is that where you are moving to?
The media doesn’t like the idea of a future Presidential candidate being a Republican woman. DEFUND NPR now!!
For now.
(opps on the separate comments)
So?
Checks demographics.
Sure, it’s a hit piece on Gov Noem. The Borg Collective views her as a threat, so it sends all the best drones from NPR to attack.
It’s a little early to say for sure, but, it would appear South Dakota’s case numbers are on the way back down. Vermont’s are low, but steeply on the way up. I’m not saying Vermont will do an Illinois, but, I am reminded of that line from Jurassic Park: “Life* will find a way.”
*Or, “sort of life”, in this case.
VT could end up begging for Trump’s vaccine.
(Yeah, I know it’s a stretch to call it “Trump’s Vaccine”, but, I believe it will be effective in preventing many deaths, and we should claim it vigorously for DJT now, so Biden can’t, later.)
