Several Fox News anchors criticized their colleague, Chris Wallace, for the way he handled the first presidential debate as a moderator.
**************
Wallace wasn’t a moderator, he was a debater. He should have been standing at a podium instead of sitting behind a desk.
Wallace did not do a good job. I agree. Neither did either of the two candidates. But Chris made many big mistakes imo, and did not do his homework or accept yes as an answer. When Trump was asked point blank if he would condemn racism he said “sure” but then both Biden and Chris both talked over him before he could finish, and it seemed he got thrown back and then asked “who do you want me to condemn” which was a mistake. Trump didn’t remember that just 4 days ago he proposed naming the KKK as a domestic terror organization!
That was a huge failure, imo, on Trump’s part. He should have condemned racism absolutely, and then say he was the first President ever to formally propose naming the KKK a domestic terror organization, and then follow it up with “also Antifa”. If he had just done that, all the rest of the mess of a debate would have fallen away and he would have won. He was very poorly prepared imo. And so most people probably think the debate was a draw because they both did a very poor job.
Just my opinion, flame away if you want. But the good news is, imo, that overall I don’t think this debate changed any minds and so it comes down to messaging from here. Trump campaign better have some ads put together to both bolster his achievements and to knock Biden for being so evasive and vague.
