After realizing declaring themselves an “autonomous zone” meant they could be raided by the feds for trying to secede from the US, creators of Seattle’s “Capital Hill Autonomous Zone” (CHAZ) have changed their name to CHOP, short for “Capitol Hill Organized Protest.”
The group wasn’t exactly autonomous since they had been getting pizza orders delivered, and calling the Seattle Fire Department and Emergency Services for medical aid and to report a dumpster fire. Organizers also had dirt, plants, and other supplies brought in for a community garden.
