Americans cant wait for the restrictions on their movements and interactionswidely known as social distancingto end.
Thats completely understandable. The coronavirus crisis has widely disrupted modern life.
But as we learned Sunday, the Trump administrations commonsense stop the spread increased mitigation strategy is with us for a whileat least till the end of April.

For myself, I think that the “TP thing” is that it is extremely uneconomical to distribute. TP and PT take up a lot of space, and with very little value, in shipping.
I expect that they are typically shipped, at the volumes normally needed, along with other high-value items, making their distribution worthwhile.
What we need to do is combine “drone” technology with simple derigibles to make self-guiding air conveyance for such bulky and lightweight products. We could have fleets of air-delivery drone ships distributing TP throughout the country and freeing vital ground transport for denser materials. Something to think about while you’re sheltering in place.
:)
Should add “8 years of Caliph Baraq” to the list.
For decades, there have been several large factories producing TP around the clock. This is a very efficient industry that bases their output on stable demand - that is, they produce just enough product to keep the shelves stocked. They do not have the ability to suddenly produce more just because irrational people are clearing them off the shelves and stockpiling it at home. They are already running their factories 24/7 - and have been for decades.
Eventually, people are going to decide they have enough toilet paper stockpiled at home and they will stop buying it. At that point, we will see the shelves rapidly fill up again and I'm guessing that by the end of the summer, we are going to see supermarkets putting it on sale so they can get it off their shelves before the next shipment comes in.
I would suggest monitoring Food Network to return to normal programming.
They are apparently in bug out mode, despite the fact that they probably tape months in advance.
There are lots of paper towels where I am, but no TP.
Imagine an ICU environment
Imagine dying people on ventilators
Imagine Nurses/Techs/MDs working to keep people alive
Welcome to my world
We’ve heard for years that socialist countries run out of toilet paper.
Do we still have idiots asking, “Does anyone even know someone who has this?”
Notice what has vanished from the news and social media? Woke is totally gone. No intersectionality, no mansplaining, no accusations of cultural appreciation...when all that reappears the crisis will be well and truly over.
That’s right up there with the canoe in 2 inches of water.
[[There are lots of paper towels where I am, but no TP.]]
Have to saw the rolls in half and use them for TP.
Glad I got out of main line cleaning 10 years ago.
June 1st will be back to the streets. However, we need to return to work in 30days and have masks and gloves available for the general population, along with TP.
The people in my neighborhood, a lot of older people, some with underlying conditions, are out walking in the nicer weather. Most are being very nice to each other and joking about the 6 ft distancing while trying to maintaining something close. One was joking she was going to have to call the governor because one of our neighbors was walking too close to his dog.
Seems like it is younger women, 25-40, that are the worst. They can get pretty hysterical. Their mothers and grandmothers are handling it pretty well.
I haven’t heard that questioned asked, but now that you mention it, I live in one of the aspiring hotspots according to the SG and no I know no one who has it. Not saying it’s not bad, just stating facts.
#5 Availability of masks for the general public.
Thanks for sharing that. My neighborhood is acting the same way. People are friendly and congenial.
I walk every day and I have met and talked to an elderly lady who is always walking in the opposite direction. We kid each other and yesterday the wind was up and as we passed she said “I have a tail wind, I hope you have a tail wind next time”. I laughed and told her I was happy she had a good tail wind. As my Dad would say “It warmed the cockles of my heart”.
Enjoy your walks and neighbors.
All those who live on total organic vegan diets & steaks & shrimp can always downgrade to peanut butter & jelly sandwiches.
Tell me what the substitute /downgrade is for toilet paper???
Also- those wipes advertised as ‘flushable’ are causing problems all over the country. Small town 20 miles from me had an entire pump system failure & cost of new pump was $18,000 PLUS remove/install & debris removal costs.
I think the manufacturers of those ‘flushable’ wipes should be sued. They are NOT breaking down in either sewers or septic tanks.
I don’t know how much storage of TP there is, but paper mill run 24hr a day 7 days a week, always full production. You cannot ramp the process up much.
