Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell are attacking each other in increasingly pointed terms as House Democrats burrow deeper into their impeachment inquiry.
But if the top two congressional leaders cant find a way to come together soon, the government could plunge into a shutdown and any last hopes for legislating before the presidential election will vanish.
The speaker and Senate majority leader have been trading grievances increasingly over the past several months. Pelosi is lashing McConnell for sitting on House-passed legislation addressing gun violence and ethics reforms; McConnell says Pelosi has done nothing to follow through on her claims that the House wont come to a standstill during impeachment.
Theres certain things that we have to do. And I dont have any doubt that we can work with each other, McConnell said in a brief interview. Her problem at the moment is internal [in her caucus], not with us, but how to manage that whole process and how can we fit other things in it.

While discussing a topic from FR earlier today, that was my beloved’s stand as well.
As long as Mitch and the Senate kept the Judges appointments going smoothly they are doing wonderful.
He believes everything else is Street Theater to keep everyone else looking away from the judgeships.
He’s constantly telling me to disregard everything the MSM is putting out.
Actually it’s even better then that. If impeachment goes to the Senate, no one leaves! Not Warren! Not Sanders! Not Booker! No Senators on the campaign trail. This could be sweet! Mitch can hold them hostage. They can’t leave to raise money.
