thoughts?
A friend and I went to a Christian Coalition event in 2000 to hear the primary contenders for GOP presidential race. They had smaller workshops too.
We were told New York State has THE WORST Republican Party in the nation. So, so RINO it was ridiculous. The moneymen got ahold of it and forget it. I had already been a district leader for four years and suddenly I realized why it was such a sham.
So I guess my thoughts are that it has been that way for a long time. It’s nothing new. Real conservatives suffer from rule at the top. There was a sort of conservative Republican Club and it got absorbed into a more RINO one—I was there when the GOP lackey walked right into the club meeting and announced that they were now part of a larger club.
Things like that were happening all the time.
Finally we get a New York conservative running for president and what do the country-club Republicans do? Half of them can’t wait to show how superior they are to Trump by attacking him with their snide remarks WHEN THEY ARE THE SPEAKER AT A REPUBLICAN CLUB MEETING!!!
I gave up in 2014 or 2015 and joined the Conservative Party. It’s a tiny bit better but I have a lot more self-respect.
There are signs of revival. Meetups and the like. But it’s very hard to work from the bottom up. As soon as they find out what you really believe, they jump someone over you and make sure you know you’ll never be respected in the party.
