I was 8 yrs old when Carter’s only response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan was an Olympic boycott; not to mention the 144 captives in Iran under the mullahs. My Mom still recalls getting flipped out when I talked about that at the time. LOL I was a weird kid.

When Ronald Reagan took office I felt safe. May he rest in peace.

Actually, Carter had another response to the Soviet invasion: he stopped sales of hundreds of millions of bushels of American grain to the USSR, ruining many thousands of hardworking farmers, while the USSR simply bought their grain from Canada and other opportunistic infections.

He also embargoed grain to Russia. The unsold grain sitting in farmers storage was worth 25% less a few days later. I knew several dem farmers that voted for Reagan after that.
