I know Minnesota's 7th Congressional District well, having spent many summers there and graduating with my MBA at what is probably the leading university there. Colin Peterson has been the representative there way back since that time.

He may very well be the last Blue Dog Democrat in congress if, indeed, said organization still exists. He was also the first Democrat to publicly call on Al Gore to pack it in following the 2000 election debacle in Florida.

The fact that Trump thinks he can defeated is a very optimistic sign. The Minnesota GOP typically runs a sacrificial lamb type candidate.

Peterson beat Hughes 52.5 to 47.4 in 2016, so it was reasonably close.

Peterson looks to have a 100% pro-life voting record, rated A+ by the NRA, likes hunting and fishing, and he's the ranking member of the Agriculture committee, so he generally represents the voters of his district very well. He'll be tough to beat. Probably the main reason people would have to vote him out is the knowledge that if the Democrats win the house, Pelosi will be speaker.
