Trust in the news media (compared against the 1980s) is basically down to marginal numbers. Go into an airport and listen to people get all hyped-up negative about the CNN monitors there. They want something else on, or the TVs turned off.
Go look at the profitability of newspapers. No one is making much of a profit anymore because people have quit reading them. Time and Newsweek? Almost worthless in value because people refuse to read their articles.
Trump picked the opportune time to run because of the negative view of the public.
That should be a plank in the 2020 platform: Kick CNN out of the nation's airports!
