We are going to have to redesignate President Trump as “The Teflon Don, Version 2.0”.
Much like the original, John Gotti, the Mafia boss of the Gambino crime family in New York City. Repeated attempts to bring him to justice in the 1980’s, in high-profile criminal trials, were deflected , and John Gotti actually was something of a rock star, with a large following among the general public.
But unlike Donald J. Trump, John Gotti really was the perpetrator of a number of very serious felonies, including murder, drug dealing, jury tampering, juror misconduct, and witness intimidation.
Gotti was finally convicted in 1991, when one of his subordinates turned state’s witness, and the FBI had a firm case. In 1992, Gotti was convicted of five murders, conspiracy to commit murder, racketeering, obstruction of justice, tax evasion, illegal gambling, extortion, and loansharking. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole and was transferred to United States Penitentiary, Marion, in southern Illinois, and died in 2002, at a prison medical facility.
