As I’ve said before, my late father’s job at the telephone company was tapping phones at the frame as part of a dedicated team that did nothing else, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Half the people here weren’t born then.
It was probably too late to do anything about this state of affairs 50+ years ago. This is probably why new aliens are not visiting us every day, no one ever gets off their planet because their sentient brains didn’t develop with the technology they invariably create.
