I'll give you that Cruz has ambitions and can probably run as a Trump 3rd term, I don't see how he's going to have objection to Trump policies (so far).

I'd say pretty good. He's not shy about running for office and had both Congressional and Executive experience before being tabbed for VP. He was smart enough to see that the 2012 field would not allow him to break from the pack even before Trump got in. He would also have an easier time fund-raising and being well-known by 2024. Also, Trump himself is likely to support Pence in various ways.
