Never one to shy away from speaking his mind, Republican Gov. Chris Christie (N.J.) came out swinging Wednesday, publicly criticizing two members of his own party: President Donald Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
During Christies rounds on cable news early Wednesday morning, MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski asked the governor whether he agreed with Trumps decision last week to pardon former Maricopa County, Arizona, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who was convicted of federal criminal contempt after disobeying a court order to stop targeting Latinos in his illegal alien sweeps.
My understanding has always been that one of the prerequisites you look for in giving a pardon is contrition for what you were convicted of, Christie said. I didnt see that in Sheriff Arpaio.
This is not one that I would have done, Christie added.
Christie, who appeared on MSNBCs Morning Joe primarily to discuss the federal governments handling of Hurricane Harvey, was even more brazen when addressing Cruzs recent remarks defending his vote against the $50 billion Hurricane Sandy relief bill in 2013. Cruz told MSNBCs Katy Tur on Monday that he voted against the relief package because two-thirds of the bill contained unrelated pork and expenses that had nothing to do with assistance for Sandy victims.
The worst thing about it and this is why politics has become so cynical in Washington is statements like that. He should just stand up and say, You know what, I was wrong,' Christie said. What was wrong was for Ted Cruz to exploit the disaster for political gain thats what he was doing.
When asked by co-host Joe Scarborough to describe Cruz in one word, Christie simply said, Crap.(continued)

He named Mark Rick as an example...
He was right and Christie was too busy sucking up to bummer to even realize how callous, and destructive he was,and still is. Christie and the rats are why this recovery bill will be free from disgusting, pandering pork.
Is the food channel hiring?
Since when is Cruz open borders? Are you mixing him up with Rubio?
I remember a book drive with my kids a long time ago. It went like this: Buy these massively overpriced crappy books and 5% of what you spend will go to the school fund (or something like that). While my wife was rounding up the $100 to buy the books from the twerps, I stopped her, gave her a $20, and told her to drop it off it at the school, for their fund.
Same thing here. You have a bill that gives $17B in aid to NJ, but costs the government $50B - there are two ways to respond: The adult way, like Cruz did, or the CHILDISH way, that Christie did.
...and trust me, I’m no fan of Cruz, given his behavior with Trump, and he’s not getting my vote in our Primary next year either.
Nah...second to Al Gore
Amen!!! There was NOTHING wrong yesterday with President Trump and Ted Cruz. Good gravy, Ted is FROM TEXAS and SHOULD be involved right now IN FRONT of the CAMERAS.. go get a life Chrissie......
Close contest!
I have no love for Christie - refusing to vote for him last time. But Ted has a habit of getting himself into sticky situations. It makes me laugh.
Christie, unable to find a new gig with honor is now applying to be the Ama Navarro of MSNBC.
I must have missed where Christie was contrite over his beach closure screwup or the bridge gate nonsense. Like Scarborough and his next victim Mika this guy is acting like just another jilted lover.
He shouldn’t criticize Trump’s ability to pardon he might need himself one one day.
The fact that Christy Christie went on “Morning Joe” in order to virtue signal to douches everywhere, says it all...
Just like his buddy romney, he was against open borders before he was for open borders.
You’re entitled to your opinion, and I’m entitled to mine. I thought he would pan out, but in the end he ended up being just another globalist DC swamp creature.
Is he planning on switching parties? Otherwise, why attack two of the most popular officials of his own party?

I’m fully expecting a back-stab if he has to appoint someone to fill Menendez’s seat.
Given that New Jersey has a gubernatorial election this November, if Menendez were to leave his seat after Aug. 30, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie could be able to name a replacement who would not face voters until November 2018.
Could he appoint himself?
Link?
Christie can go sit on a beach....in Texas.
I think he can - supposedly, he has said he won’t, but I just don’t trust the guy any more (haven’t for a long time).
He’ll never live down kissing Obama’s ass when he got off the plane during Sandy.
