Ted Cruzs Democratic challenger is working overtime to drive a wedge between the senator and his base on one of his central issues criminal justice reform.
Over the past six months, Rep. Beto ORourke has reached out to members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus to collaborate on the issue, hosted a Facebook Live event with them to talk marijuana policy, and sought support from the conservative advocacy group FreedomWorks for a criminal justice bill he introduced in the House.
While ORourke is no stranger to working with Republicans on issues relevant to his El Paso district, the lawmakers recent focus on criminal justice reform is part of a push to boost his profile for the uphill bid to unseat Cruz in the Senate in 2018.
Ive had more correspondence with Beto ORourkes office than most of the Republicans [in the Texas delegation], said Jason Pye, vice president of legislative affairs for FreedomWorks.....

So, what about lying ted, now? Good riddance, huh?
If there is no primary opponent, he will win reelection.
yep. the paulbots would make a deal with the devil, as long as the devil televised the event.
that is one self-obsessed, self-important, weird ass family.
So both of them are trying to be softer on crime than the other?
Ted Cruz will probably turn 70 in that seat.
Not at all. The Democrat is trying to make inroads with the Rontards and other libertarians with talk of sentencing reform and decriminalization of dope. Cruz isn’t going there.
Name a Texas Republican who could beat Cruz in a primary.
I will take Cruz over a rat any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Well if that’s so, it won’t be long till they bring out the powder puffs.
Neither left nor right has any context to understand it apart from a gospel context, however. America is a country that once knew what it was like to comprise a lot of Christians.
Now even on FR we get a lot of “Oh, don’t bother me with that God stuff. Take it to the Religion ghetto.”
That, about the thing which deserves to be the first principle of our actions.
That would be a good thing.
Ted will keep that senate seat for a long time.
Lyn’ Ted should quit and good riddance to the whinny voiced liar. I don’t live in Texas but am happy to see he is losing. I will be happy to support anyone running against him. Primary first. And for those that still propagandize for him, shame on you either selling out on your integrity and conservative values, else outing yourself as not one.
**while Cruz has long been a leader on criminal justice reform, which draws unusual bipartisan support on Capitol Hill, he disappointed some advocates by opposing a sentencing reform bill during the 2016 presidential primary.**
It sounds he has been on the wrong side though.
I dont live in Texas but am happy to see he is losing.

Did you read the article? He’s not “losing.” His potential Democratic rival is playing games trying to attract Paulestinians and other libertarians. Cruz is in a very safe seat. Save your money to give to Kamala Harris or Elizabeth Warren.
ah. there we go. the detached, uninformed cry from the wilderness that starts the sh*tstorm.
