Ohio has long been seen as a battleground state, up for grabs in most Presidential elections. ..... In years when Republicans won, the Mahoning Valley still voted for the Democrats, but with less enthusiasm.
Not this time. In the 2016 primaries, a number of Mahoning Valley Democrats changed their party affiliation to vote for Donald J. Trump. Last year’s big shift came from people who had sat out the past few elections but showed up to vote this year. In November, Hillary Clinton won Mahoning County but received less than 50% of the vote. She actually lost in neighboring Trumbull County. She lost Ohio by more than 8 points, the biggest loss of any candidate in the state since Michael Dukakis gave up the state to George H.W. Bush in 1988.
That’s why political operatives and journalists are now paying even more attention to the Youngstown area. Even the Ohio Democratic Party (ODP), which has long counted on the Mahoning Valley, is taking notice of a region they didn’t think they needed to worry about.
In what has become a familiar practice following a series of defeats in recent state-wide elections, the ODP sponsored a “Listening Tour.” On June 12, 2017, the tour came to Youngstown with National Democratic Party Chairperson Tom Perez, ..... The event was .... billed as “Pizza with Perez.” Approximately 75 attendees, mostly loyal Democratic Party supporters, including a number of local and state politicians, paid $25 to attend the midday event. I paid my $25 to find out whether Party leaders were seriously listening to the concerns of voters and to see how they would react.
What I saw was a typical campaign event, with the audience doing the listening while Democratic operatives touted their positions. ......

Honestly, just look and listen to Perez. He is nauseating. He reminds me of a cartoon rat. His 2nd in command is America hating BLM white hater Ellison.
They have nothing to offer. People got a taste of their crap with Obama and they hated it.
So what snake oil are these repulsive clowns supposed to sell?
The democrats have to be more inclusive. They have to invite more groups to join like Americans, like soldiers, like union workers, like retired people, like law biding people, like people who love America and Americans. Stop being a party of the 1% ers.
Identity, victim centered politics is the route they have chosen. They can’t come out and run on socialism (although Bernie did) so they have to make it personal. They make everyone identify as being the victim of a straight, white, male society. This is why it gets so angry. The left takes every policy as a personal attack and they react with hate and anger.
I see no way out of this for them.
The Democrat Party is committing self-inflicted political suicide. Bottom line in a few words, The Democrat Party has lost “blue collar, industrial union” workers, they have lost millions of African-Americans (Obama, The CBC, The NAACP, The Democrat Party failed Blacks miserably, across the board), and, their illegal & fraud voter base is running for the hills, for fear of being deported or jailed.
All that is left is, nutcase progressives, a failed academia, a biased media, America haters, public service worker unions, communist teacher unions, gays & trans genders....hardly anywhere near a majority of the American voting public.
Democrats, 29%, Republicans, 38%, Independents, 40%, others, 3%. The upcoming Mid-Terms will see a massive destruction of the Democrat Party.
I fully know the road of salvation for the once great Democrat Party....but, that is their business. I prefer for them to continue to follow losers, Obama, Clinton and, their current leadership. LMAO!!!
The Dems have had their head in the sand ever since Obama hit the stage....and it cost them and the media. It will continue. BUT, the GOP will not fare any better except Trump. They won because of Trump. If the GOP doesn’t provide REAL conservatives to vote for, their party is done as well.
The GOP track record is NOT conservative!

The Democrat Party has become radicalized by far left voices and the mendacious voices of Schumer and Pelosi. That is not good for America.
The only way to save the Democratic Party is to destroy it. Beat it down so hard that it hits bottom. At which point it either wakes up and sees where it has gone dead wrong, or it wallows in its irrelevancy.

I believe we’re seeing the early stages of the formation of a viable, majority 3rd party which will draw from both former Ds & former Rs.
Maybe call it the Liberty Party. I don’t want it to be the Lion Party because too many negative word plays can be made on that name/logo. A fierce American eagle can be the mascot.
