I dont smoke. Barely drink. Not overweight. Cant get insurance because of sleep apnea. Self employed with one employee so I cant get group coverage.

The only thing I can get is short term insurance..which used to be for six months and is now three months. It is tax deductible because I am self employed.

People like me are in a rabbit hole. If I do that Christian ministry thing..it is not tax deductible...and I dont really trust it to payout a big claim

Oh..and yeah..for those that always try to say State will take care of you.subsidy and all of that...I dont qualify.and never will qualify unless I go bust because medical bills took all my money..and I am so sick that I cant earn anything.

Not sure why self employed people get the shaft.

"Enter Cruz. Here’s how the Texas senator described his plan, in his own words, on Wednesday: If an insurance company offers at least one plan in the state that is compliant with the (Obamacare) mandates, that company can also sell any additional plan that consumers desire. What that does is it maintains the existing protections, but it gives consumers additional new options above and beyond of what they can purchase today. As a matter of politics, you could see how the idea would be a winner: Moderates can say they kept Obamacare’s insurance reforms and conservatives get to say they allowed non-Obamacare plans back on the market."

1000 words to explain 100 (poorly).

The problem with your statement is “those who choose to live more healthy”. First, medical science is often wrong about diets and what is “healthy”. Second, how do you judge “healthy enough”? Should we require daily exercise to cover people? How much exercise is enough? Do we count daily calories or judge nutritious content? Third, there’s no perfect solution so saying “not fair” has little meaning.

I get what you’re saying but unless we suppress liberty we’ll always have this as a consequence.

To your second point about cost reductions, I completely agree...it’s very curious and smells like a swamp. Too many dirty influences.

I used Christian Healthcare Ministries but had no claims. A friend of mine successfully used it for his wife's six deliveries.

Long, and I’ll have to read it more at length, but it sounds like it might be a way through the impasse.

I agree. The problem though is the fact that we pay WAY more for healthcare than any other country.

As long as it costs $700 for a bag of saline, we are going to have problems. The chronically sick aren't going to be able to pay for the care they need. Someone else will have to pay for it. Currently, we are all paying for it with higher premiums. In Ted Cruz's plan we will all be paying for it with taxes that fund Medicaid and the Obamacare vouchers. Maybe that is better than what we have and maybe not, I don't know.

Until we get at the structural problems which allow providers to charge so much, someone else will always need to pay for the healthcare services for the sick.

You are exactly right. What do they never address the actual costs of medical care. That’s the problem. Why do we allow price gouging?

the requirement that health plans cover every American regardless of health status and the prohibition on charging sick people more than healthy people — are overwhelmingly popular.

I question this premise. It seems to be based upon a Kaiser poll. Polls said President Hillary wouldn't have to repeal Obamacare.

“I guess we’ll see what Cruz is, won’t we?”

Yes.

Is he succumbing to the pressure?
What about Rand Paul?

We already provide coverage for any uncovered children, the elderly, poor people, and vets.

If you are already doing that from different pools of money, wouldn’t it make more sense to do it from one pool?

And at that point, where are we?

My daughter who has worked in the health care industry as a pharmacist (PharmD) recently moved to Merida, Mexico for retirement due to the low cost of living. She recently had an outpatient colonoscopy performed by a board certified gastroenterologist, with propofol anesthesia monitored by an anesthesiologist (not nurse anesthetist) and had removal of a benign polyp which was read by a certified pathologist. Her total cash price (no insurance) was $500.00 USD. She was impressed by the competence, compassion, and professionalism in this modern clinic, not to mention the fact that she got an appointment within a week of calling.

“Anything other than full repeal is unconstitutional.”

I agree that the existing legislation is unconstitutional. However, the Supreme Court, including “conservative” John Roberts, allowed it to stand. The stakes are high enough, in my opinion, to justify Revolution 2. This is so far beyond taxation without representation, it is incredible.

However, barring Revolution 2, with our current legislative makeup, I don’t think we are quite able to get a full repeal. And if that’s true, does it make more sense to wait to do anything until the midterms? Or do we accept a temporary compromise to get rid of tax dollars going to Planned Parenthood, and other monstrosities that can at least be eased?

Feels like as long as conservatives are sharing this land with liberals, we are constantly forced to hold our nose for some vote or another.

I find this so hard to believe unless done on a sliding scale due to no income. Not doubting you..just saying I dont think its the norm...and she should recommend the place to everyone.

We’ll alwaays pay in one way or another. Since they obviously are not going to get rid of Obamacare the only choice left is to leave it and do a work around for regular people

This is the cash price offered to anyone. She bought 3dozen eggs as Costco in Mexico for $1.00. Everything except gasoline is dirt cheap. She took her cat to the vet to have an infected claw removed and got prescription for antibiotics and a bag of prescription cat food that costs $25 in US. Total cost was $39.00

No legislative text of Cruz’s proposal is yet available, but this is the gist: As long as a health plan offered at least one Obamacare-compliant plan in a state, the plan would also be allowed to offer non-Obamacare-compliant plans in that state.
