Cruz: 'Democrats are the party of the Ku Klux Klan'
The Politico ^ | February 8, 2017 | Elana Schor

Ted Cruz on Wednesday called Democrats "the party of the Ku Klux Klan," slamming senators in the minority as "foaming at the mouth" for stalling confirmation of President Donald Trump's Cabinet nominees.

The Texas GOP senator sounded off against Democrats after Elizabeth Warren was formally silenced on a party-line vote for reading a 1986 letter by Coretta Scott King that criticized attorney general nominee Sen. Jeff Sessions' civil rights record.

The "most racist" southerners "who imposed segregation, who imposed Jim Crow laws, who founded the Klan" were Democrats, Cruz charged in an interview with Fox News. "The Klan was founded by great many Democrats and now the Democrats just accuse anyone they disagree with of being a racist."

Cruz followed by excoriating Democrats' "false smear of Jeff Sessions," the Alabama Republican whom Cruz said would "make an extraordinary AG" after his expected confirmation on Wednesday night.

"The Democrats are angry and they're out of their minds," Cruz said, adding that Democratic senators are "objecting to every single thing – they're boycotting committee meetings, they're refusing to show up. They're just foaming at the mouth practically. And really you know where their anger is directed, it's not at Republicans – their anger is directed at the American people."

Nope. The KKK was started by Southern Democrats.

Sen Robert Byrd, D-WVA was a Grand Cyclops of the KKK and HRC’s ‘role model’.

The Dems are always on the wrong side of civil rights.

George Wallace—Democrat

Bull Connor—Democrat

As you probably know, during the Civil War and for years afterwards, Republicans were derisively called "Black Republicans" for their stance against slavery. The Lincoln Republicans envisioned a strong Federal government; whereas, the Southern states championed States rights. Prior to the Civil War, it was said the United States "are" rather than the United States "is". From what I've concluded; it was not so much a Northern/Southern thing (although, that certainly came into play), but more of a political view. Many men in the Southern states fought in the Union Army as well as some for the Confederacy, and many Northern men fought for the Confederate Army as well as the Union. Also, due to the slaves being counted as 3/5ths, the South (states rights proponents) was able have the majority of Representatives against the Federalist North. It was politics.

Warren Harding, Calvin Coolidge, Woodrow Wilson, Harry Truman were all presidents who were KKK members.

No matter what we may think of Cruz for other things, when it comes to turning an effective phrase against those who would do the People wrong is an area where he is absolutely brilliant.

"Last week Tucker Carlson was interviewing a Black Panthers founder. It was amazing hearing the Black Panther blasting Democrats for being racist and holding down black Americans. He accused Democrats of wanting to keep slavery, of Jim Crow laws, of the KKK, and went on and on. He said blacks were fools to vote Democrat. Tucker Carlson didn’t interrupt, and thanked him for setting the record straight!"

One last thought on this subject: Modern day historians and political junkies are either unaware or unable to bring themselves to acknowledge there were "Free People of Color" who owned not only property, but slaves, also. William Ellison was wealthier than nine out of 10 white people in South Carolina. By his death in 1860, he owned 900 acres of land and 63 slaves. None of his slaves were allowed to purchase his or her own freedom. In 1830, several black people in LA owned a large number of slaves: Sophie Delhonde, Lefroix Decuire, Antoine Decuire, Leandre Severin, Victor Duperon, Victoire Deslondes, Martin Donatto, Jean B. Muillion, Martin Lenormand, Verret Polen, Francis Jerod, Cecee McCarty and many, many more across the Southern states.

President Harding and Coolidge were almost certainly black themselves, so I doubt they were in the KKK.
