DETROIT (CNN) - Gobsmacked by their base's ferocious rejection of Donald Trump's presidency, the candidates to chair the Democratic Party scrambled Saturday to show how devoted they are to the cause.
Former Labor Secretary Tom Perez bragged to the Democratic National Committee's "future forum" about racing to airport protests in Houston and then San Francisco. Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, made sure everyone knew he was the only one to skip David Brock's donor summit to participate in the Women's March in Washington.
Put him in charge, Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison pledged, and "We will be asking Democrats all over the country, 'Bring coffee to the marches. Be in the marches yourself. Carry a sign.' "
As for those white rural and exurban voters who so brutally rejected Democrats in November -- well, bringing them back into the fold is also a priority for those vying to lead the party.
If the base allows it.
After three weeks of anti-Trump protests, Democrats are still stunned by the sudden burst of energy. The party's organs are all racing to keep up as dozens of events pop up -- often on Facebook, without any party chapter or progressive organization's involvement at all -- each weekend....

I hope the trump DoJ goes after Soreass.
Facts and science can not be denied by any valid government: If your belief is that you don’t have to work for a living and you are able to work and do not work, you are not an American.
GTFO and do not speak in my direction expecting to be heard. Physically attack me or my kind and be prepared to to die for trying to harm us.
Butterbur’s the name. Barliman Butterbur.
When Sessions is confirmed, the cases he may bring day 1 may cause a number of top RATS to leave the country, let alone battle for control of the DNC. Or that is the hope.
Notice there is no ‘righteous indignation’ in the Dems anymore, and they aren’t working constructively together to even have a reasonable interim chair of the DNC.
How do their voters feel, that not only do they not have a recovery plan, but Bernie Sanders himself shot down Tom Perez today because he wants Ellison, while Bernie isn’t even a Democrat? To me, this means they expect some major carnage and can’t act until Sessions brings it.
[These leftist protests would be happening even if Jeb himself somehow won the Presidency.]
Yes, Yeb would be in the fetal position in the Oval Office broom closet by about now.
That’s hypnotic.
“...Creepy Kaine....”
Yep. He really is creepy...scary creepy. And to think this creep was potentially just a heartbeat away from POTUS is even more scary.
I wonder if he’s been to the children’s island with the Clintons?
He looks like the type that would enjoy something like that....creepy.
How stupid are these people? They lost the election in the upper midwest and Pennsylvania by losing the working class voters. The folks there see the president talking to CEO’s of numerous businesses trying to spur growth of the economy to create jobs in this country. Meanwhile, they see the Democrats participating in one protest march after another, and caring more about Muslim refugees than the out of work American. Bad optics and frankly it’s surprising the the Dems have been completely inept in reading the political tea leaves here. Not that I’m complaining.
they spent eight years accusing our energy of unpatriotic unlawfulness.
we will have another civil war. it is inevitable.
BINGO
I have seen this civil war coming since the 1970’s. The reason it has taken so long is that the common folks have been slow to anger. That threshold has been met during the Obama years. Now the spoiled little snowflakes are going to push them to far. Heaven help the fools. They don’t have any idea what they have started.
The dems have lost so many voters. If we can keep the 3 rd world from coming into the country. They ‘ll be down for a long time. We have to keep pushing secure borders and a slowing or stopping immigration.
You ought to send that in — it’s right on the money. These liberals fancying themselves the “resistance” when they control the institutions.
