In Arizona we have touch screens that produce a piece of paper with you votes on it. You can check that your vote was recorded correctly, and there is something physical to recount. That'll work, for sure. Anything that ensures some measure of accountability.

As a programmer with over 30 years of experience I can assure you that I can print one piece of data on a piece of paper and save a different one to the database. Child's play.
Get rid of all electronic voting machines. Mechanical only.
