On November 8, the voters will cast their ballots for a slate of electors, who will do the electing of the next president and vice president when they meet in their respective state capitals in December. If the plurality of voters in a state choose to vote Democrat, these loyal Democrat electors can be instructed to vote for anyone the party wants, and almost all of them will likely comply.

Correct, but the author isn’t talking about that. He’s talking about using Bernie’s popularity - more, in his estimation, than Hillary’s - to win the election Hillary would have lost. That is far less likely and far more difficult if it’s still her name on the ballot and not his.
