The smell of panic grows stronger.

” (Journalists generally hated Nixon’s guts, and the feeling was mutual.) But anything’s possible.”

Since I stopped reading here, this is all I will comment on. Journolistas hated Ford’s guts. They hated Reagan’s guts. They hated Bush uno’s guts. They hated Dole’s guts. I don’t think I need to go on.

Mainly the feeling was “mutual” because the media starts it, Republican candidates respond and then the media whines that we hate them.

"The smell of panic grows stronger."

Agreed. I think the loony left thought they had it sewn up after the DNC convention and Trump's wrath of Khan moment. They forgot about the Hindenburg they have in candidate Hillary - full of hot volatile gas, ready to explode at any given moment.

You’ve also noticed, I’m sure, that Bill Clinton is MIA on the campaign trail.

Yes, the ‘rock star,’ the ‘most popular Democrat after all these years,’ the ‘secret weapon,’ the ‘most effective politician since Reagan’ etc. is even more absent than his so-called wife in her dire state of health.

There are probably multiple reasons, including:

-His heart’s not in it. Retirement has been good - golf, the odd speech for megabucks, and most of all the opportunity to be a complete lech. For 16 years he’s been free of the need to pretend to be married and to pretend to even want to be in the same room as Hillary. It goes without saying that if this were a Republican couple their marriage would have been dissected by the press years ago.

-His health is just as poor.

-A lack of adoring crowds. Hillary’s the candidate and she can’t draw flies. On the other hand, Bill can’t draw them either as a supporting act else they would show up but he can’t let himself admit that so he’d rather stay away.

-A lack of adoring media. Even if Hillary is getting kid-glove treatment over her obvious misdeeds it’s her they are interested in because they ultimately are interested in power, not personality.

-He’s still President Lewinsky. Bill Clinton was stunned, annoyed and flummoxed by questions about his inescapable past when the campaign began - which makes him an optimist or a fool. But it will always be his real legacy whether he likes it or not. And he doesn’t like it.

Hillary was supposed to walk it, especially after an outsider got the GOP nomination. Bill was supposed to be the afterburner just in case. Both are falling well short of the mark.
