There's a theory that neither party liked red, so since the advent of color TV and colored electoral maps, the networks switched the color of the incumbant party every 4 years, like so: There were a few exceptions where a network used a third color, like yellow, or didn't use colors at all - who knows. :-) By this formula Romney should have been blue, but Trump would rightfully be red.

I’ve heard that excuse before but it doesn’t wash because the lying media stopped any change long ago and just stuck the republicans with the red color only. And the Republicans stupidly went along with it.
