Countering perceptions, millennials no voting monolith

The oldest millennials – nearing 20 when airplanes slammed into New York City’s Twin Towers – are old enough to remember the relative economic prosperity of the 1990s, and when a different Clinton was running for president. The nation’s youngest adults – now nearing 20 themselves – find it hard to recall a reality without terrorism and economic worry.

Now millennials have edged out baby boomers as the largest living generation in U.S. history, and more than 75 million of them have come of age. How they vote on Nov. 8 will shape the political landscape for years to come. Yet with less than three months to go before Election Day, the values of young Americans whose coming-of-age was bookended by the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and the 2007-2009 recession are emerging as an unpredictable grab bag of fiscal conservatism and social liberalism....

Hmmm, I bet if I legally changed my name to “Pokemon Go” and ran for president I’d win in a landslide!

Trump remains wildly unpopular among young adults...

In 2012, however, just 45 percent of millennials cast ballots and participation has leveled off or dropped ever since

Good that they don't vote. They're too young to have gotten over the brainwashing in school. Plus they're gibmedats regarding student loan cancellation.

It must be because I live in the sticks but I see lots of young kids supporting Trump. I have seen them wearing Trump hats at concerts. Chanting USA at ball games The information coming from the media is sureal from what I see every day. Granted I live in flyover country.

My daughter and ten-year-old grandson were living with me at the time the Towers went down. Had my grandson sit with me and watch the films on the news in spite of the fact that my daughter did not want him to. I did explain what was happening during the entire TV broadcast and he and I discussed it many times later. His teacher also discussed it with his class.

He is now a junior in college and he brought the subject up in a telephone conversation we recently had. He said some in one of his classes were not even aware of even the most basic facts and most were totally ill informed. Three in this particular class are voting for Trump and grandson said they are the only ones who seem to have any correct information on 9/11.

Sounds right. My 15 yo daughter brings similar stories home from school. She has a lot of friends with brains who understand what is going on, but is also surrounded by oxygen-thieves.

My 19 year old son is a college student and he’s voting Trump. Listening to Milo Yiannapoulis sealed the deal for him, although I hope I had some influence. :P Among his friends around half are for Trump and the other half were Bernie supporters that refuse to vote for the witch.

We’re getting so many reports about who’s going to vote for whom, it’ll be a relief when we finally get to the actual voting.
