The term “automatic” has at least two correct meanings in firearms parlance.
1) It means the gun will fire as long as the trigger is held down, or until the weapon empties its magazine or belt.
2) In an “automatic” pistol, the gun automatically loads a round from a magazine when it is fired. As in .45 Automatic Colt Pistol or .45ACP..
A revolver is not an automatic because the fired cylinder stays empty.
This double meaning is beyond the understanding of folks who hate guns and are ignorant when it comes to talking about them.
