Not logically, but there are many voters who actually believe that nonsense. Its just as nonsensical counterpart at the federal level is:
" Our combat forces are more effective if we have females on the front lines."

From the earliest days it was recognized that our national strength was due to the fact that we become one due to the "melting pot" effect.

However, it is easier for domestic enemies to transform our culture and thus our nation by breaking us into smaller parts and pitting us against ourselves.
