Texas has always thrown out bad politicians. In my time line, just think of LBJ, Anne Richards, etc. That’s just a start!
Texans refuse to deal with this instead focusing on bad northeastern politicians. And, I’m sorry, it’s not because of carpetbaggers. Rick Perry, anyone? What? He’s from the upper west side of Manhattan?!
“And, Im sorry, its not because of carpetbaggers. Rick Perry, anyone? What? Hes from the upper west side of Manhattan?!”
Nope. He turned scalawag, for whatever reason, which I see as an increasing trend in the South. I fear that the Texas I grew up in is getting displaced by death and outsiders. It was just getting into high gear in the 1980s, and has only gotten worse.
The state just isn’t what she used to be, sort of like the nation. I am doing some grinding, difficult physical labor at an age when I should have been contemplating retirement. I find that I can work circles around people young enough to be my grandchildren. Looking at America now is like looking at a soft fruit deliquesce. On the other hand, Trump is winning because he harks back to what we were just a few decades ago.
